Rethinking Support for People With Chronic Illnesses

More than a quarter of all Americans suffer from at least two chronic illnesses, but the support on offer for people with chronic diseases is inadequate and falls short for most patients.

In this video from Smart Design, Heather Martin talks about the realities of living with chronic diseases. She explains that patients are more susceptible to developing depression which in turn can make the symptoms of their disease worse.

Martin explores ways in which patients with chronic illnesses can be better supported, particularly in the first six months after diagnosis when people have to make the biggest life adjustments.
