In this ACR Simple Tasks video, spoken word artist Shanelle Gabriel talks about her life with lupus for this documentary from the American College of Rheumatology.

Shanelle talks about her early symptoms such as joint pain, extreme fatigue and bad headaches. She explains that lupus is difficult to diagnose because the symptoms mimic those of many other diseases, but rheumatologists are able to spot the signs of lupus.

Shanelle has used her journey with lupus to channel her energy into things she loves and she regularly performs her spoken word acts for schools and colleges to help educate young people about lupus.
