Like many people, Kylie knew very little about the disease before her diagnosis. She didn’t realize it was incurable and that it can affect any part of the body. As an auto-immune disease, lupus can leave a person vulnerable to all kinds of infections and illnesses that people with healthy immune systems would be able to easily fight off.

The video explains that although men and women can develop lupus at any age, the disease mainly strikes young women, and that the severity of lupus varies from patient to patient, but can be extremely debilitating and even fatal.
